A Savory Start to the Day: Our Bacon and Cream Cheese Spread

There are just some days when you and need something more. This is exactly where and when our bacon and cream cheese comes in. Not only is it incredibly flavorful, but is ready in a few simple steps. Sometimes, in switching up our routines, it only takes a small adjustment, or change, to have a big effect.

To prepare our bacon and cream cheese spread, you only need a handful of ingredients: Cream cheese, some sour cream, fresh chives and of course bacon. Plus salt, pepper and lemon juice to taste. Really this spread doesn’t call for much, and the ingredients list is more complicated than the prep!

To make the spread, start by frying the bacon until crispy. This does a few things: On one hand, the greasiness of the bacon will make the dip nice and smooth, and the crispiness will give the dish a nice texture. Plus, of course, the bacon brings in a big flavor to the spread! Once they’ve reached desired crips, let the bacon strips drain on paper towels. Set aside one of the strip and crumble it into bacon bits. Chop the rest of the strips very finely.

Now mix the bacon with the remaining ingredients. Next, cut the chives finely. If the oniony taste of the chives is too strong for you, swap it out with a little fresh thyme or dill. Once chopped, simply garnish the spread and top with bacon bits. Now just season and serve and that’s it! It’s even faster if you prepare it the night before. Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices bacon
  • ½ bunch of chives
  • ½ cup cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • salt & pepper

Instructions
 

  • Fry the bacon until crispy, alternatively, you can also cook it in the microwave using a bacon rack. Let it drain on paper towels, crush one slice of bacon and set it aside for garnish. Chop the remaining bacon finely.
  • Cut the chives into thin rings.
  • Mix the cream cheese with sour cream and lemon juice until smooth. Now fold in the bacon and chives. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Pour the spread into a bowl and garnish it with herbs and the bacon bits. Enjoy!
